Ultra runner, Guinness World Record holder
In 2016, Karel Sabbe surprised the world with his Guinness World Record for the 4300- kilometre-long Pacific Crest Trail. He later went on to break the speed record for the 3500-kilometre-long Appalachian Trail. In 2019, he became the last remaining participant in the Barkley Marathons, the famous "Hardest Race of the World", which over a period of 35 years, only had 15 finishers.
